Professor Lum is a Canadian nurse educator and researcher, and previously in the U.S. She currently holds a joint academic appointment with the School of Nursing (SON) and School of Health Policy and Management (SHPM) in the York University Faculty of Health. Her past recent administrative experience includes chairperson of the SHPM and Associate Director of the SON. She has been lead investigator on large, externally funded TriCouncil national research grants. Her major research program explores the labour market integration challenges of internationally educated health professionals. She is currently leading a new research project examining the experiences of academic nursing leaders during the pandemic. Dean Mawson has supported the ClinicalRisk Management movement in the NHS working in collaboration with NHS Digital and prominent Clinical leaders within the digital health sector for over 18 years. Biography: Cheng YANG is a specialist nurse in wound care at the Department of Burns and Plastic Surgery, West China Hospital of Sichuan University. He is currently studying for a master's degree in disaster nursing at the School of Nursing of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The main disaster relief experience has been providing care to infected patients in isolation wards during the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown. His primary research interests lie in the intersection of emergency care and psychological support for patients with moderate to severe burns. He dedicated to providing comprehensive burn recovery support and have focused on developing strategies for effective psychological first aid. Recognizing the profound impact of psychological distress on recovery, he aimed to integrate mental health support into wound care practices to enhance patient outcomes.

Dr. Tanja B. Salary has over twenty years of nursing experience and over six years in health services management in the Department of Juvenile Justice and now Faith Community Nursing. She continues her objective to implement a strategic approach to achieve health equity through the elimination of disparities in social and economic determinants of health while promoting systems-level change. Dr. Salary has successfully earned an Education Doctorate in Nursing Education from Northcentral University. She is a published author who travels abroad to discuss her research and empirical knowledge about medication errors in Juvenile Justice. Her published work consists of her related coursework and dissertation topic: A Quantitative Correlational Study of Medication Administration Errors and Contributing Factors among Juveniles in a Residential Juvenile Justice Facility. In addition, Dr. Salary is an alumna of Auburn University-Montgomery (BSN) and the University of Phoenix (MSN/HE).

John Piazza DeDonatis studied Nursing at Dominican University of California and graduated with a BSN in 2014. He has worked for five different hospitals across California and Oregon in many different departments including Emergency, Critical Care, and House Supervisor. In 2022 John began his Nurse Coaching Program at the Integrative Nurse Coach Academy and became a Board Certified Nurse Coach in early 2023. During his Nurse Coaching Program and after achieving certification, John has been providing Nurse Coaching services for various departments and staff within the hospital he works for in Portland, OR. The results have been profound; igniting interest from leadership and administration to address burnout and retention.

Chloe’s qualified as a nurse in 2013 graduating from the University of West London with a letter of recommendation from the Dean. However, her journey into nursing has been a rough ride. She suffered multiple organ failure as a teenager and has been diagnosed with multiple illnesses which affect her every day. She uses a wheelchair and has an assistance dog, Ocho Sunday, who supports her personally and professionally, where together they brighten the lives of the clients and patients they care for. Unlike nurses without (visible) disabilities, Chloe is often challenged or questioned in her role - something which has been a common theme since the onset of her illnesses. Her resilience and commitment to changing people’s lives is incredible, and she has maximised her own circumstances to pave the way for other disabled nurses/health and social care professionals and patients in her care. According to a freedom of information request sent to the Nursing and Midwifery Council, only 3% of all registered nurses have a disability. Chloe is the only nurse with a wheelchair and an assistance dog working clinically in the UK. She has worked with her current employer to launch a disability-friendly care and nursing recruitment campaign and continues championing disabled nursing. It was her own experience with nurses which inspired her to become a nurse. A career path which she has been knocked down from time and time again, but continues to find solutions, and come back better and stronger. This year, Chloe appeared alongside her working pooch on ITV’s This Morning, as she was selected as their Inspirational Woman of the Year for International Women’s Day, 2023. She has also been a finalist/winner in multiple other awards nights including Nursing Times “Nurse of the Year” 2023. Chloe’s life goal is to make Health and Social Care careers more accessible to people with disabilities. She is using her voice and lived experience to demonstrate how barriers can be overcome. Chloe has faced so much discrimination in her nursing career, but she is dedicated to speaking out and trying to make a difference. Chloe is showing that disability and nursing can go hand in hand and be successful. Chloe aims to help future disabled nurses be seen, supported, appreciated, and recognised for their brilliance.
