Professor G. Richard Stephenson obtained his PhD in 1978 from the University of Cambridge (UK) and after 4 years as a research fellow at the Australian National University, returned to Cambridge as a senior research fellow at Girton College. He moved to the University of East Anglia (Norwich, UK) first as a Royal Society University Research Fellow, and then as Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Reader, and finally as Professor of Synthetic and Pharmaceutical Chemistry. He has research interests in organic and materials chemistry, which progressed most recently to the chemical modification of cellulose to enable water resistant biocomposites. To commercialise his recent work, he became founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Cellexcel Ltd and Emeritus Professor at UEA. He has been a Visiting Professor at the Université de Caen, and Invited Professor at Université Paris VI and the Université Catholique de Louvain. Stephenson is a Chartered Chemist (CChem), a Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), UK, and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), UK.

Professor Sharath Sriram jointly leads the Functional Materials and Microsystems Research Group at RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia. His research transforms discoveries in materials science and electronics into devices and products for high-speed electronics, sensors, and medical devices. He is Director of the Discovery to Devices Facility for scale-up manufacture of medical devices, and was Founding Deputy Director of the $60 million Micro Nano Research Facility. Prof. Dongling Ma (FRSC, FIAAM), holder of the Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Advanced Functional Nanocomposites, has been a professor at Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) since 2006. Her main research interest consists in the development of various nanomaterials (e.g., semiconductor quantum dots, transition metal catalytic nanoparticles, plasmonic nanostructures) for applications in energy, environment, catalysis and biomedical sectors. Jan J. Dubowski is a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the Université de Sherbrooke, Canada. His research interests focus on technology of semiconductor materials and laser processing of III-V quantum semiconductors, with specific emphasis on the photonic properties of epitaxial nanoheterostructures designed for sensing of surface immobilized electrically charged biomolecules. He has published over 300 research papers, reviews, book chapters and conference proceedings, and he is a holder of 7 international patents. Dr. Dubowski is a Fellow of SPIE – the International Society for Optics and Photonics, and a recipient of the Canada Research Chair in Quantum Semiconductors.

Giovanna Machado completed PhD in Materials Sciences at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (2002) and obtained a postdoctoral internship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She has been a senior researcher at the Center for Strategic Technologies of the Northeast (CETENE) since 2009. She was a member of the Academic Council of an important development body in Brazil, the CNPq, in Organic Chemistry, she was Director of the Chemical Materials Division of the Brazilian Chemical Society (SBQ) period 2018-2020. She is currently Director of the Center for Strategic Technologies of the Northeast (CETENE) of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation - MCTI. The researcher has over 20 years of experience developing competence at the frontier of knowledge in strategic areas of photocatalysis and nanotechnology. The researcher also contributed to the creation of research groups with recognized national and international experience in Materials Science and Chemistry. Chao-Hui was born and raised in Taiwan. He was granted the PhD degree in Institute of Electronics Engineering by National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), Taiwan in 2014 for his work on high-speed graphene electronics and ferromagnetic oxide materials. Subsequently, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the same research group under the supervision of Prof. Po-Wen Chiu to develop scalable 2D electronics and integrated circuits leveraging CVD methodology for various 2D materials growth. Noteworthily, his first author’s research works have been accepted at the 2019 and 2020 International Electron Devices Meeting (IEDM), which is the world’s most renowned flagship conference for reporting technological breakthroughs in the areas of semiconductor and electronic device technology. Houria KADDOUR received his PhD in Metallurgy in 2022 from the Ecole Nationale Polytechnique, Algiers, Algeria.
