Thomas J. Colacot joined MilliporeSigma (a business of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany) in 2018 as an R&D Fellow and Director of Global Technology Innovation, Life Science Business, in Milwaukee, WI. He has extensive experience in developing new and innovative products and technology, with a very strong track record of commercialization globally and is considered an industrial expert in organometallics and homogeneous catalysis in organic synthesis. He has over 120 peer-reviewed publications and over 67 patents internationally. Thomas is a recipient of many awards and honors, including the 2021 Scientific Curriculum Vitae (Life Time Achievement Award) from the Chairman of the Board and CEO of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, the 2018 Outstanding Researcher Award from Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, the 2017 Catalysis Club of Philadelphia Award for outstanding contributions in the area of catalysis, the 2015 ACS Industrial Chemistry Award, the 2015 IPMI Henry Alfred Award, the 2016 Indian Institute of Technology Madras Distinguished Alumnus Award for Technology Innovation, the 2016 Chemical Research Society of India (CRSI) Medal, and the 2012 RSC Applied Catalysis Award and Medal. Dr. Colacot was responsible for developing a very successful homogeneous catalysis program at Johnson Matthey from 1995 to 2018, and currently he heads the Center of Excellence in Catalysis of the Life Science Business Unit. He holds an MBA degree from Penn State University and a Ph.D. degree in chemistry from IIT Madras. He has also carried out postdoctoral work in the U.S. and is a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry. He has given more than 400 presentations globally.

Dr. Bo Qu is Associate Vice President, Head of Technology and Process Chemistry at TCG GreenChem, a Contract Innovative OrganizationTM. Dr. Qu has extensive experience in the development of economical, sustainable and green manufacturing processes for APIs for preclinical and clinical studies. She holds a Master of Science degree in chemistry from University of Science and Technology of China and a Ph.D. in transition metal complexes synthesis and characterization and their applications in catalytic reactions from the University of South Carolina. She carried out a postdoctoral fellowship with Professor David Collum at Cornell University, where she studied organolithium reactions and the structure and reactivity relationship with defined reaction platforms. In 2006, Dr. Qu joined Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Process Research and Development group. After series of accomplishments, she was promoted to Senior Principal Scientist. During her time at Boehringer Ingelheim, she developed many new and practical catalytic and asymmetric transformations for cost effective drug development. Specifically she championed in new P-chiral phosphine ligand development and discovered one of a kind novel chiral P,N ligand class named as BoQphos for iridium catalyzed asymmetric pyridine reduction to produce valuable enantiomerically pure piperidine-containing heterocycles for drug development. This discovery coupled with an unprecedented direct C-H arylation strategy, has enabled a concise and cost effective ideal asymmetric manufacturing process for the 11β-HSD1 inhibitor for treatment of Type 2 diabetes. She was subsequently appointed as a Process Research group leader where she was responsible for development of economical, practical, and concise approaches for drug substance synthesis. She has authored ~100 peer-reviewed publications and patents. She was also invited to give many lectures at national and international venues. In 2021, Dr Qu was appointed as one of the Editorial Board members of Organic Reactions.

Paul O’Connor – BIO - May 2022 Born in 1956 in Curaçao, The Netherlands Antilles. Graduated at the Eindhoven The University of Technology in Chemical Engineering in 1977. He has been active in heavy oil conversion processes at Shell in design, process, and refinery operations and at Akzo Nobel in marketing and research management of refining catalysts. He championed several breakthrough innovations in Fluid Catalytic Cracking Catalysts. After the acquisition of Akzo Nobel Catalysts by Albemarle, Paul led the long-term development strategy for new catalytic applications. In 2006 he formed BIO e CON, which focused on the economic conversion of biomass to renewable fuels and energy. BIO e CON working with an international network of creative scientists has developed several breakthrough concepts. Part of this IP has been acquired by Khosla Ventures in the 2007 start-up KiOR which unfortunately did not succeed to commercialize the technology successfully. In 2010 Paul launched ANNECY with as goal to convert renewable energy directly into high-density liquid fuels or chemicals. ANNECY developed several patents in the area of the capturing and conversion of CO2. This technology which was acquired in 2019 by Climeworks world leader in Direct Air Capture of CO2. In 2009 BIO e CON and PETROBRAS formed a partnership to develop biomass conversion technology based on ZnCl2 molten salts. This partnership was discontinued in 2016 by PETROBRAS because of financial restrictions. BIO e CON retained the IP and has developed the technology further towards a cost-effective method for producing specialty cellulose (Nanostructured cellulosic materials). In 2018 Paul co-founded silicon to commercialize BIO e CON’s technology in this area of bio-based materials. Most recently Paul and his team in YERRAWA are also working on the catalytic carbonization of biomass and plastic wastes. This is a technology that enables the conversion of wastes (bio-waste, agricultural wastes, manure, textiles, and plastics) directly into solid carbon and hydrogen avoiding the costs of capturing, transporting, and sequestering CO2, while producing valuable products from the carbon like for instance carbon for soil improvement/fertilizer, activated carbon, and potentially even higher quality products like graphite and graphene.

Dr. Chris H. Senanayake was born in Sri Lanka and received a BS degree (First Class) in Sri Lanka. After coming to the United States, he completed his MS at Bowling Green State University with Professor Thomas Kinstle in synthetic chemistry. He obtained his Ph.D. under the guidance of Professor James H. Rigby at Wayne State University in 1987 where he worked on the total synthesis of complex natural products such as, ophiobolanes, and completed the first total synthesis of grosshemin in the guaianolide family. He then undertook a postdoctoral fellow with Professor Carl R. Johnson and worked on the total synthesis of polyol systems such as amphotericin B and compactin analogous, and the synthesis of C-nucleoside precursors. In 1989, he joined the Department of Process Development at Dow Chemical Co. In 1990, he joined the Merck Process Research Group. After 6 years at Merck, he accepted a position at Sepracor, Inc. in 1996 where he was promoted to Executive Director of Chemical Process Research. In 2002, he joined Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals. He served 14 years as the Vice President of Chemical Development at BI and led a group of highly talented scientists, engineers, and Administrative staff located in Ridgefield, CT. In 2018 June, he joined AstaTech BioPharmaceutical Corporation as the CEO where he oversees all subsidiaries including AstaGreen Chem Inc., in Richmond VA as the CEO. In 2019 October he became the CSO of TCG Lifesciences and founded TCG GreenChem Inc, in US as the CEO. He was also appointed as president of Astatech biopharmaceutical. Dr. Senanayake’s research interests focus on the development of new asymmetric methods for the synthesis of bioactive molecules and heterocycles and on catalytic, enzymatic, and mechanistic studies. He has published and lectured in the area of practical asymmetric synthesis and many disciplines of organic chemistry how to develop drugs on an economical, greener and practical manner in large-scale operation for rapid development of drugs. He is the co-author >500 papers, patents, book chapters and review articles, and more then >115 patents in many areas of synthetic organic chemistry, drug development and design of improved chemical entities. Dr. Senanayake participated in many drugs development activities including, Crixivan, Lunesta, Jardiance, R, R Formotorol, Desvenlafaxine, HCV and many other drug candidates. Dr. Senanayake demonstrates the ability to define and optimize chemical research and development strategies and tactics. He is able to “connect the dots” between the purely scientific and commercial perspectives and set up creative and effective strategies for new and proprietary products in ways that build value for the organization and create a competitive advantage. He is an Editorial Advisory Board member of the Organic Process Research & Development Journal. In 2008, he was the chairperson of Stereochemistry Gordon Conference. In 2010, he received the prestigious Siegfried gold medal award for development of practical processes for APIs and Process Chemistry. He was appointed as an adjunct professor at Virginia Commonwealth University, also was appointed prestigious research professorship at University of Toledo. In 2022 June, he was the winner in two categories: 'Best CEO in the Pharmaceutical Industry - North America' & 'Growth Strategy CEO of the Year – USA from 2022 Business Worldwide Magazine CEO Award.

Dr. Anne M. Gaffney is the Chief Science Officer of Idaho National Laboratory and Distinguished National Lab Fellow (2014 – present). She has thirty-four years of experience working in the industry inventing and commercializing new technologies for major chemical manufacturing companies including Koch Industries, Lummus Technology, Dow, Dupont and ARCO Chemical Company. She has authored 155 publications and 257 patents. Dr. Gaffney is also a distinguished Joint Appointment Fellow at the University of South Carolina (2018 – present) where she is the Technical Director of the National Science Foundation Center for Rational Catalyst Synthesis. Some of her recent awards include the 2019 American Chemical Society, Energy & Fuels, Distinguished Researcher Award in Petroleum Chemistry; the 2015 Eugene J. Houdry Award of the North American Catalysis Society; the Chemical Heritage Foundation, Women in Science Inductee, 2014; and the American Chemical Society, Industrial Chemistry Award, 2013. Dr. Gaffney received her BA in chemistry and mathematics from Mount Holyoke College and her Ph.D. in physical organic chemistry from the University of Delaware.

Chunshan Song is the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Wei Lun Professor of Chemistry at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK)in Shatin, Hong Kong, and Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the Pennsylvania State University (PSU)in the USA since July 2020. He received a BS in chemical engineering in 1982 from the Dalian University of Technology in China, an MS and Ph.D. in applied chemistry from Osaka University in Japan in 1986 and 1989, respectively. After a brief stint in 1989 at Research Centre of Osaka Gas Company in Japan, he joined PSU at University Park in the USA. He was a Distinguished Professor of Fuel Science and Chemical Engineering at PSU and served as Director of EMS Energy Institute at PSU during 2007-2020, Associate Director of Institutes of Energy and the Environment during 2008-2020, and the Founding Director of the University Coalition for Fossil Energy Research consisting of 15 major universities funded by US Department of Energy during 2015-2020. His research focuses on heterogeneous catalysis and chemistry for energy and fuels including adsorptive CO2 separation, catalysis for CO2 conversion, plasma catalysis, adsorptive and catalytic hydrocarbon processing, shape-selective catalysis, and nano-porous catalytic materials. He has advised or co-advised over 70 Ph.D. and MS students, over 60 postdoctoral fellows and visiting scholars, authored 440 articles in refereed journals, 30 book chapters and edited 15 books, and is a most-cited author in energy, catalysis, and chemical science and engineering. He is a Fellow of American Chemical Society (ACS), and received ACS George A. Olah Award, ACS Henry H. Storch Award, Herman Pines Award from Catalysis Club of Chicago, Catalysis Club of Philadelphia Award, Fulbright Distinguished Scholar Award from US-UK, Chang Jiang Scholar Award from China; Distinguished University Professor and Faculty Scholar Medal from the Pennsylvania State University, Honorary Professor of Tianjin University, Global Alumni Fellow of Osaka University, and Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award from Dalian University of Technology.He served asCo-chair of 24thNorth American Catalysis Society Meeting in 2015 and the Editor in Chief for “Advances in Catalysis” published by Elsevier/Academic Press during 2016-2020. Since 2012, he has been serving as Chair of the International Scientific Committee of the International Conference on Carbon Dioxide Utilization (ICCDU) which rotates among Europe, America, and Asia on an annual basis. Heis currently on the advisory board for 15 research journals in catalysis, CO2, energy and fuels, and chemical science and engineering. He was honored by a Festschrift as a special issue of the international journal “Catalysis Today” in July 2021.

Prof Chul Park received his Ph.D. from MIT in 1993. He is a Distinguished Professor of Microcellular Engineered Plastics at the University of Toronto. He is also the NSERC Senior Industrial Research Chair in Multi-Functional Graphene-Based Polymer Nanocomposites and Foams. He has an international recognition in polymer foam area. He has published more than 1500 papers, including over 470 journal papers and four books with 83 Scopus H-index. Prof Park serves as Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Cellular Plastics. He has been inducted as an Academician Fellow into 6 academies including the Academy of Sciences of the Royal Society of Canada, the Korean Academy of Science and Technology, and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He is also a Fellow of 6 other professional societies including the Society of Plastics Engineers.

Mauro Formica received his Degreein Chemistry (1991)from the Universityof Messina, Italy, and a Ph.D. (2008) in Chemical Sciences from the University of Camerino, Italy. Currently, he is an associate professor at the University of Urbino "Carlo Bo", Italy. The research interests of M. Formicaare focusedonCoordination Chemistry, Supramolecular Chemistry, and Photochemistry. His main research fieldsincludesSupramolecular Chemistry, Coordination Chemistry, and Bioinorganic chemistry; synthesis of new ligands, most of them having a macrocyclic skeleton, and the study of their metal complex-formation properties; development of fluorescent chemosensors for multiple applications. In the last few years, his interest was focused on the synthesis of receptors and metal-complexes behaving as Metallo-receptors for the recognition, sensing, signaling, sequestration, transport, dosage, and/or activation of biological and environmental substrates and towards the development of molecular systems having antineoplastic activity. He is co-author of 84 publications in peer-reviewed journals, 2 patents, and over 70 presentations in International meetings.

I am Dr. Isabel Guerrero was born in Barcelona (Catalunya), Spain, in 1975. In 2016 I was graduated in Chemistry at Universitat de Girona (Udg). In 2017 I obtained the master degree in Applied chromatographic techniques at Universitat de Girona (Udg). My first research experience dates back to the end of the Degree in Chemistry, when I did an internship at the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC) in the Inorganic Materials and Catalysis group, under the supervision of Prof. Francesc Teixidor. This was my first contact with Boron Chemistry with the application of the metallacarboranes in a green catalytic way and it allowed me to carry out my thesis at Universitat de Girona and Inorganic Materials & Catalysis Laboratory (LMI) at Material Science Institute of Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC) under the supervision of Dr. Isabel Romero and Prof. Francesc Teixidor. based on Carboranes Compounds as Efficient photoredox Catalysts in Oxidation reactions and I received the PhD from Udg in 2022. One of the most important contributions of my work has been the oxidative photocatalysis of alkenes, the results of which have given rise to the granting of a Proof of Concept project entitled, Recovery of Animal Fat Waste Through Sustainable Photoredox Catalysis, which is the project I am developing today as a Postdoctoral researcher at the ICMAB-CSIC. This project involves the development of environmentally friendly methodologies, where minimum amounts of catalyst are used to oxidize unsaturated fatty acid from fats, reusing renewable resources to transform them into other useful products for the society.

Luca Giannini, after graduating in Chemistry at the University of Pavia, got his PhD from University of Lausanne. Luca is co-author of more than 22 patents, 30 scientific papers and one book chapter in “Rubber technology, Nanomaterials and Nanocomposites”. In the frame of ISO-TC 229 and CEN-TC 352 he participated to the standardization activity in Nanotechnologies. He joined Pirelli Tyre SpA in 2003, working since then on R&D projects in the field of rubber nanocomposites and on new tyre products, leveraging innovative materials and processes, as Self Sealing and Noise Suppression System. Luca holds currently the position of “Material Advanced Research Manager” and as such coordinates Pirelli’s research activities on new Nanofillers, renewable materials and innovative polymers performed in collaboration with Academic partners and the corresponding development activities performed with selected industrial partners, up to pilot and pre-production level.

Anna Młynarczykowskarecevied her MSc degree in Chemistry with a specialization in Physico-Chemical ofSurface at the Faculty of Chemistry of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków and a PhD degree oftechnical sciences in the field of mining and engineering geology, specializing in the processing of solid minerals (2004). At present, she is working as adjunct in the Department of Environmental Engineering at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Resources Management (until 2022 Faculty of Mining and Geoengineering) of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow. She is a member of the Polish Society for the Processing of Minerals (2010), including treasurer and currently secretary of the board this society.Her research interests obtained on basic and process researches in the field of physico-chemical methods of mineral processing, among others, the analysis of elementary flotation acts, and in particular the description of the kinetics and dynamics of the mutual influence of the liquid-gas, solid-liquid-gas phases depending on the conditions of the process , distribution of gas, solid and aggregates in turbulent flow conditions inside reactor vessel. Apart from that, assessment of the impact of water quality on the effectiveness of the raw mineral processing and purification of post-process waters in terms of environmental protection and with circular economy, are in her research space. Her present research focus on modeling and optimization of mechanical mixing processes for mono- and multi-phase systems, and also management of waste from raw mineral processing and their deposits ( in the form heap or landfill) with the use of modern, unconventional and innovative technologies for their processing and recovery of valuable components.

Katarzyna Chruszcz-Lipska received her MSc and PhD degrees in Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. At present, she is working as adjunct in the Department of Petroleum Engineering at The faculty of Drilling, Oil and Gas of the AGH University of Science and Technology (Kraków, Poland). Her present research interests focus on geochemistry of reservoir waters, crude oil and reservoir rock, environmental protection in petroleum industry, corrosion and also biofuels

Mary Eugenia Kapp Endowed Chair in Chemistry and Commonwealth Professor, Department of Chemistry at Virginia Commonwealth University, USA El-Shallreceived his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Cairo University, and a Ph.D. from Georgetown University. He did postdoctoral research in nucleation and clusters at UCLA. His research interests include nanostructured materials, graphene and nanocatalysis for energy and environmental applications, gas phase clusters and nucleation. He has published over 290 refereed papers and review chapters(Google Scholar h-index = 58, citations > 13,200), and he holds 11 US patents on the synthesis of nanomaterials, nanoparticle catalysts, graphene, and graphene-supported catalysts. Dr. El-Shall received the Outstanding Faculty Award of the State Council of Higher Education of Virginia (SCHEV), Virginia's highest faculty honor in 1999; the Distinguished Research Award from the Virginia Section of the American Chemical Society in 2009; the VCU Distinguished Scholarship Award in 2011, and the VCU Award of Excellence in 2016. He was selected as a Jefferson Science Fellow and worked as a Senior Science Advisor at the U.S. Department of State in 2012-2013. Dr. El-Shall received the Virginia Outstanding Scientist in 2018 awarded by the Governor of Virginia. He is an elected Fellow of both the American Physical Society (APS) and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).

Elisa Moretti is an Associate Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the Department of Molecular Sciences and Nanosystems, Ca’ Foscari University of Venice (Italy). After receiving a Ph.D. Degree in Chemistry (2005) at the Ca’ Foscari University, she moved to the University of Malaga (Spain) for a post-doctoral experience. She is leading a multidisciplinary group focusing on the development of advanced 0-3D nanostructured inorganic materials for energy and environmental applications, including photocatalysis (e.g. onboard H2 purification by CO preferential thermal/photo-oxidation, water splitting, dyes and drugs photodegradation for water remediation).

Dr. Frank Gupton is a professor at Virginia Commonwealth University and holds joint appointments in the Departments of Chemistry and the Department of Chemical and Life Science Engineering. He is the Floyd D. Gottwald Chair of Pharmaceutical Engineering and also serves as Department Chair of the Chemical and Life Science Engineering Department. His thirty-year industrial career centered on the development and commercialization of chemical processes for pharmaceutical applications. Dr. Gupton’s research group is currently focused on the development of continuous processing technology to facilitate the discovery, development and commercialization of drug products. Prior to joining the faculty at Virginia Commonwealth University, Dr. Gupton served as the Executive Director of North American Process Development for Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals and led the commercialization of the widely prescribed HIV drug nevirapine. Dr. Gupton received his Bachelors of Science degree in chemistry from the University of Richmond and graduate degrees in organic chemistry from Georgia Tech and Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Gupton’s research efforts have focused on streamlining pharmaceutical processes, particularly in the area of active ingredients, by employing the principles of process intensification which include the use of innovative chemistry, novel continuous manufacturing platforms, and new and more efficient catalysts for pharmaceutical applications. The research group’s efforts are guided and driven based on both financial and economic impact that can be derived from this effort. Dr. Gupton is the recipient of the 2018 American Chemical Society Award for Affordable Green Chemistry, and in the same year, he received the Presidential Award for Green Chemistry. In 2019 he received the Peter J. Dunn Award for Green Chemistry and Engineering Impact in the Pharmaceutical Industry from the ACS Green Chemistry Institute Pharmaceutical Round Table. These awards were associated with Professor Gupton’s work on the development of a highly efficient process to produce nevirapine, the first-line treatment in HIV therapy.

Prof. M. Maaza is a native of North Africa, holds a PhD from the University of Paris-VI, is the current incumbent, in South Africa, of the UNESCO UNISA-ITLABS-NRF Africa Chair in Nanosciences. He is a joint staff of the University of South Africa and the National Research Foundation of South Africa. He is a fellow of various Academies, including the African Academy of Science, the European Academy of Arts & Sciences as well as the National Academy of Science of India, the Islamic Academy of Sciences & the Royal Society of Chemistry-London. Prof. M. Maaza has been bestowed several awards & accolade among which; the African Union Nkwame Nkrumah award for Excellence in Science & Technology & the Galileo-Galilei award by the International Commission for Optics (ICO).

Lifeng Liu (Researcher ID: A-2522-2012, Orcid ID: 0000-0003-2732-7399) received his Bachelor's degree in Applied Physics from Beijing Jiaotong University (2001), and both his Master's (2004) and Ph.D. (2007) degrees in Condensed Matter Physics from the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He joined Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics (MPI-Halle) in 2007, first working as a postdoctoral researcher and then as a staff scientist, under the supervision of the late Prof. Ulrich Goesele. He started his independent research career in 2008 and became a Group Leader in 2009 at MPI-Halle. In 2011, he moved to the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL) and set up a research group there, where his research now focuses on the development of new functional materials for use in electrochemical energy conversion and storage devices including electrolyzers, rechargeable batteries, supercapacitors, and photoelectrochemical cells. Lifeng Liu has been actively working on nanomaterials and nanostructures since 2002, and he has published ca. 180 scientific papers in international peer-reviewed journals and filed 3 patents by far. He received several awards and honors such as the FCT Investigator Grant 2014, the Young Researcher Prize of the Portuguese Electrochemical Society 2015, and the Emerging Investigator 2019 by the RSC journal “Chemical Communications”. He is now the Editorial Board member of Advances in Nano Research, Materials Today Energy, Materials Futures, and Applied Research.

Cheng Tang received his B.Eng. and Ph.D. from the Department of Chemical Engineering, Tsinghua University in 2013 and 2018, respectively. Currently, he is a Lecturer at The University of Adelaide. His research focuses on functional nanomaterials and carbon-neutral energy and chemistry, including 3D graphene, single-atom materials, next-generation batteries, electrocatalytic refinery for renewable fuels and chemicals, etc. He has published 1 authored book, 1 book chapter, and >80 research papers in refereed journals (over 10000 citations, h-index: 53, Google Scholar). He was recently honored with the ARC Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (2022), the MIT TR35 Asia Pacific (2021), the Thomson Reuters/Clarivate Analytics Highly Cited Researcher (2020, 2021), and The Chorafas Foundation Award in Chemistry (2019).

Dr. Andreja Goršek is a full professor at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, University of Maribor, Slovenia. She is a member of the Laboratory for Process Systems Engineering and Sustainable Development and is engaged in teaching as well as in research activities. She is an official lecturer for Chemical Reaction Engineering, Bioreaction Engineering, Material Science, and Design of (bio)reactor systems. She mentored many ungraduated and postgraduate students and supervised PhD students. She has prepared and is responsible for the Doctoral program in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering according to the Bologna system. Her research interest is mainly(bio) reactor design, kinetic studies of(bio)reactions, calorimetric studies in the pharmaceutical industry,industrial wastewater treatment,optimization of fermentation processes, synthesis, and application of new catalysts. She was a member of several research programs and a leader in several industrial studies. For the last 2 years, she has been a member of the European Federation of Chemical Engineering, a Working party on Chemical Reaction Engineering.

Dr. Shaya received his MSc in Synthesis, Catalysis and Sustainable chemistry from University of Lyon, France and his Ph.D. degree in Chemistry from University of Nice, France with honor distinction in 2016. He pursued postdoctoral fellowships at Ecole NormaleSupérieure de Lyon, and University of Strasbourg, France in collaboration with Kyushu University, Japan till 2019. He was appointed as a senior lecturer of chemistry at Khalifa University in 2019 and completed a postdoctoral degree in Artificial intelligence and Machine learning from University of Texas at Austin, USA. Dr. Shaya joined the Chemistry department at KU in 2023 as assistant professor. He has published in high impact factor journals including Angewandte, Nucleic Acid Research, Oxford, Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology, and ACS chemical biology. His research interests involve organometallic chemistry and catalytic methods and their applications in environmental chemistry and in designing new fluorescent probes and two-photon absorption materials for biological detections such as DNA and lipid probes.

Cécile Blanchon joined the ProOcess Material and Solar Energy laboratory (PROMES) as a PhD student in 2020 as part of a collaboration with the Interaction Host Pathogens Environment laboratory (IHPE) and the Biocapteur Analyse Environment laboratory (BAE) to work on heterogeneous photocatalysis applied for aquaculture seawater disinfection. She specifically used oyster pathogens such as virus or Vibrio bacteria to study the effect of treatment process of those targets and the impact on the total microbiota. She also used her engineering skills in microbiology, process and simulation to size treatment plants according to solar constraints and seawater quality requirements.

Dra. Carla Herrera is an assistant professor in the physical chemistry department at the University of Concepcion. She earned her Ph.D. degree in the laboratory of Catalytic Materials at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. She is review editor for Frontiers in chemistry and the Editorial Board of Nanoscience. Her research focus is centered on the catalytic conversion of biomass model molecules towards add-value chemicals through catalytic processes such as hydrogenation and partial oxidation reactions over metal-carbon hybrid catalysts.

I am Dr. Isabel Guerrero was born in Barcelona (Catalunya), Spain, in 1975. In 2016 I was graduated in Chemistry at Universitat de Girona (Udg). In 2017 I obtained the master degree in Applied chromatographic techniques at Universitat de Girona (Udg). My first research experience dates back to the end of the Degree in Chemistry, when I did an internship at the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC) in the Inorganic Materials and Catalysis group, under the supervision of Prof. Francesc Teixidor. This was my first contact with Boron Chemistry with the application of the metallacarboranes in a green catalytic way and it allowed me to carry out my thesis at Universitat de Girona and Inorganic Materials & Catalysis Laboratory (LMI) at Material Science Institute of Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC) under the supervision of Dr. Isabel Romero and Prof. Francesc Teixidor. based on Carboranes Compounds as Efficient photoredox Catalysts in Oxidation reactions and I received the PhD from Udg in 2022. One of the most important contributions of my work has been the oxidative photocatalysis of alkenes, the results of which have given rise to the granting of a Proof of Concept project entitled, Recovery of Animal Fat Waste Through Sustainable Photoredox Catalysis, which is the project I am developing today as a Postdoctoral researcher at the ICMAB-CSIC. This project involves the development of environmentally friendly methodologies, where minimum amounts of catalyst are used to oxidize unsaturated fatty acid from fats, reusing renewable resources to transform them into other useful products for the society.

Lucía Amorós-Poveda (Petrer, May 2, 1975) is a Ph.D. pedagogue at the University of Murcia (Spain) and interim professor in the Department of Didactic and School Organization of the Faculty of Education. Her research topic is digital citizenship oriented, but not restricted to, educational technology and learning evaluation. She finished her thesis research in the recently disappeared McLuhan Program in Culture and Technology, at the University of Toronto, in Canada. After that, she worked at the Catholic University of Maule (Chile) with a MECESUP Project financed by The World Bank - BIRF and the Chilean Ministry of Education. Moreover, she participated in the Cinema & Education Project in Mâcon, France, with the University-Enterprise Foundation under the European Leonardo Da Vinci Program. Attending cultural and functional diversity, she was volunteer in Ardeen Cheshire Home and Newbridge Respite Centre at the Cheshire Foundation, in Ireland. In this line, after that, she led the Cinematic Project aimed to reduce the digital gap in/and homelessness. Nowadays she completes the Management Committee in the COST Action CA21167 UniDive “Universality, diversity, and idiosyncrasy in language technology” involved in multilingual and cross-lingual language technology, quantifying and promoting diversity. She is a member of the Educational Memory Study Center at the University of Murcia (CEME) with filiation into the Spanish Pedagogical Society (SEP) that since 1994 founding of the European Educational Research Association –EERA.

Dr. Mihail Lucian Birsa is currently a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi, Romania. In 2003 he was selected as a member of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, working with Professor Henning Hopf in TU Braunschweig - Germany. Since then numerous return fellowships were granted by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. He has more than 100 publications in peer-review journals and published 45+ books/book chapters (John Wiley & Sons, Thieme etc). Also, is editorial board member in more than 50 journals such as Applied Sciences, Arkivoc, BioChem, Edelweiss Chemical Science Journal, Journal of Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Design, Journal of Fine Chemical Engineering, Modern Approaches in Drug Designing, Pharmaceutical Toxicology.

Sukomol Barua, a young doctoral researcher from Bangladesh pursuing Ph.D. studies in the Department of Catalysis at Center for Physical Sciences and Technology (FTMC) in Vilnius, Lithuania since 2021 focusing on the development of Anode and Cathode materials and their applications for fuel cells especially DBFCs and electrocatalytic water electrolysis in alkaline and acidic media under the scientific supervision of Dr. Aldona Balčiūnaitė in Prof. Dr. Habil. Eugenijus Norkus's Lab.

Dr. Luke Saunders received his MChem in 2012 from Northumbria University. After several years working as an industrial chemist, he turned to academia and received his Ph.D. from Newcastle University in 2020. His Ph.D. work was based upon calculating diffusion coefficients from electrochemical data for industrial gas sensors. He has previously worked within the battery manufacturing industry and battery research in academia before going into the glass manufacturing industry as a chemical engineer. Currently, he is working on manufacturing specialist glass for use in fiber optics and etching on microchip semiconductors.

Dr. Darja Pečar received her Ms.C. degree and Ph.D. degree at Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, University of Maribor in 2002 and 2005, respectively. She is associate professor at Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, University of Maribor. Her teaching activities are in the field of bioreaction engineering, chemical reaction engineering and materials. Her research activities are synthesis of chemical and biochemical catalysts, kinetic studies of chemical and biochemical reactions and safety studies in pharmaceutical industry.

Srewashi was raised amidst lush tea estates in the northeast of India. Her doctoral studies at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, are currently underway. Her research focuses on creating outer coordination sphere features for active hydrogen production catalysts that aren't relied on amino acids. She relaxes by travelling, gardening, and creating delectable treats.

Nahal Majdodin was born in 1989. She received her BS degree in Applied Chemistry from Alzahra University, Tehran, Iran, in 2012, and then MS degree in Applied Chemistry from Islamic Azad University of Tehran in 2014. She is currently a PhD student at Science and Research Branch University, Tehran, Iran and also a researcher at National Iranian Gas Company, Tehran, Iran. She is working on her PhD Thesis. Her scientific field of interest includes Catalysis, Petroleum Chemistry, Green Chemistry, Environmental Pollution and synthesis and characterization of organic and inorganic porous materials and their application in the oil and gas industry.

Dr. Prasenjit Ghosh is a Professor of Chemistry at IIT Bombay. He received his Ph.D. from Columbia University, New York in 1998. Following two post-doctoral stints at Brookhaven National Laboratory, and at the University of California, Santa Barbara, he joined IIT Bombay in 2003. He received the CRSI Bronze Medal (2014) of the Chemical Research Society of India and The Distinguished Lectureship Award (2011) of the Chemical Society of Japan. He served in the Editorial Advisory Boards of Organometallics (2017-2019) and of Polyhedron since 2011. His interests are in the domains of organometallic chemistry in homogeneous catalysis and biomedical applications.
